Who we help

Medisch Handelen makes the best deals for you

We help hospitals, private clinics and veterinary clinics in the Netherlands that have an outpatient or inpatient operating room. In those departments you deal with specific and expensive items, prostheses and equipment. They are not used anywhere else in the hospital and quickly end up in a storeroom.

From practice

This is how surplus arises in a hospital. Three examples.

  • Case 1

    New techniques move fast

Technology for healthcare is developing extremely fast. Once a new item is on the market, it is outdated within a short time. Medical specialists can hardly keep up with all the new techniques. New techniques are often introduced quickly, so new products are bought before the current ones are used up. Another hospital still uses this item and it can easily be resold.

What we do: We resell the item to a hospital that still uses it.

  • Case 2

A different way of working, a different device

A device is bought because a hospital cooperates with another hospital. This requires a specific way of processing specimens, for which this device is needed. Half a year later, a collaboration starts with another hospital. That hospital works differently and another device has to be bought. The old device becomes redundant and disappears into a storeroom.

What we do: We find a buyer for the device, so it does not stay in the storeroom for years.

  • Case 3

    Different suture material, old stock

A medical specialist is used to working with a particular mechanical suture material from company X. Company Y conquers the market with a new type of suture material. After extensive testing, the hospital switches to company Y. To prevent mistakes, the old stock is not used up, because the method is slightly different. Company X does not take the material back, so the only thing you can do is throw it away. There is nothing wrong with this material: it was stored under the right conditions and the packaging is intact. It can still be used safely by another hospital or a veterinary clinic.

What we do: We find a hospital or veterinary clinic that can use the material safely.
